One of my favourite weblogs posted an article a while ago that got me still thinking about it.
It was about standing vs. sitting when working with a computer. At first this seems very weird because most people sit when doing work on a computer. After some research I found out that a lot of people work standing, the animators at Pixar for instance.
Some benefits according to 43folders.com:
* Fewer posture-related back problems
* Sense of freedom, both of movement and thought
* Enhances multi-tasking for some purposes
* Measure of exercise, at least compared to sitting all day
* Freaks out unknowing co-workers
In my research I also found a site that had some health remarks on this subject;
Standing is a natural human posture and by itself poses no particular health hazard. However, working in a standing position on a regular basis can cause sore feet, swelling of the legs, varicose veins, general muscular fatigue, low back pain, stiffness in the neck and shoulders, and other health problems. These are common complaints among salespeople, machine operators, assembly-line workers and others whose jobs require prolonged standing.
I am very curious to the opinion of the 6angrymen readers, also because i’m going to buy some new office furniture in a few weeks!
People standing at pixar:

What height is good for you?

I think I’m going to try this for myself any time soon, because RSI is kicking in lately!
