Last weekend we went to an exposition of Communication & Multimedia Design students that are graduating this year. UnExplored is showing the new, undiscovered at Electron (Breda). The multimedia designers are showing the possibilities of new techniques as it’s saying on the poster. This poster has been made with processing – a programming language – and was generated with the existing coordinates of the different projects shown in the electron. Processing:
“aims to act as a tool to get non-programmers started with programming, through the instant gratification of visual feedback.”1
I think it looks pretty cool and I’m impressed by the technique. But more important were the projects shown at electron. There was this multitouch interface built by Jeroen Braspenning. A point and click adventure game called Fate By Numbers. Some documentaries. A typographic presentation of a thesis about ‘teenage girls and the internet’ about the need of media literacy for high school students. I liked the combination between the thesis written by Michael Spaans and his final project. It reminded me of another typographic video about a Pulp Fiction scene:
Evert Hilhorst made an application for video artists to generate live visuals. It also uses processing to generate images and video while you’re dancing. Overall I was very impressed by the work shown and the quality was a lot better then the last CMD exhibit I saw a year ago.
Wow that pulp fiction video is just great!
Yeah, I’ve seen it before.. but it’s so good.
I totally agree. A great expo which was way better than last year. I’d wish to have the same delay in graduating
it was a great exhibition!
