Optimus popularis

Tuesday Artem Lebedev of Art Lebedev announced on the Optimus blog that another keyboard will be added to the Optimus keyboard family.

The Optimus Maximus gained much attention through the feature that allows users to set their own images on the OLED keys. This feature can be used for hotkeys for certain applications or to switch between different input languages. It also had some extra keys to assign to program or web locations. The downside: the price ($1857.53) and the keyboard requires its own power adapter.

So the Optimus Mini was created, a small three-keyed input device. To be used to start applications.

The Optimus Tactus is still in concept, but I think it has no future: there is no tactile feedback or whatsoever, which makes it all the more difficult to use it as an actual keyboard.

But now the Optimus Popularis. It will have no OLED keys, but (probably) ‘normal’ keys. But there will be 11 extra keys above the function keys. Probably for hotkeys. The price will be below $1000,-.

More information soon, so stay tuned!

The Tactus even has a video mode. Why would anybody want that?
