In the category ‘Things you can find in somebody’s attic’: A book on Menstruation Hygiene. I found it a few weeks ago and it grabbed my attention immediately. Childish texts combined with psychedelic images and words no one has ever heard of make this book a classic that every menstruation lover should have on his (or her) bookshelf.
The book was first printed almost 30 years ago by a publisher from Meppel (Uitgeverij Ten Brink). Nowadays adults and children are used to seeing high definition pictures of vaginas and penises. But thirty years ago that wasn’t an option. So they had to think of something else. Something that would explain certain subjects, but would not show too much detail. This is what they designed.
Yesterday I showed my psychiatrist these pictures and asked him how he would interpret them. He saw landscapes, caves, Egyptians and occasionally a vagina.
Amazing! They succeeded in one thing for sure: the vagina has never been this unattractive before!
