Today I created a Dropbox account with an invitation I received from Leonie a few days ago. She told me about this little app they have been using at the company where she is fulfilling her internship. It’s called dropbox and ‘I had to try it!’
So what exactly is Dropbox then?
“Dropbox is a desktop application (for Windows and Mac OS X) and storage service that just works. It’s the easiest way to share and store files online and keep files in sync across your computers.”
I installed the application this morning and I must say it works pretty well. You can compare it to FTP programmes like Cyberduck or Transmit, but, unlike FTP, you do not need to log in and it is integrated in the finder window. And as the video already showed, it is very easy to share files and create photo galleries.
I like it! It’s very easy to work collaborate this way and keep your versions up to date without any big and expensive software packages!
I’m sold!
I’m using this for years
I see they changed the concept a bit. Before it was a program to send files around in your local network. This looks nicer!
Yep, that’t true, but I find this concept a little bit more usable!
