It is the newest trend among the British youth. With the help of the satellite images from Google Earth they are locating private swimming pools in their neighborhood. In these images it is very easy to figure out which backyards contain swimming pools. With communities like MySpace and Facebook they invite each other to parties at these swimming pools.
This trend, called ‘dipping’, is a large irritation for many people who are very scared during these nightly visitings. Some of them find empty beer cans around the pool.
Most of the time, these kids are meeting each other in groups of 10 to 20 people but sometimes invitations are sent to hundreds of people.
Dipping is illegal but on the internet people share tips to reduce the chance of being caught. Someone advised to wear neat clothes and to bring a bike, so they can escape more easily.
It is one of the disadvantages of the Internet; information is easily accessible and people use this information for bad things.
Here an article from the British Telegraph about dipping.
